Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
SoCo Counseling has existed in various stages for about 5 years, starting with an idea that would help fulfill a need in the community for high quality, lower cost professional counseling services. In mid 2013, the company was officially formed, two dedicated professionals joined the Director and began providing Clinical Social Work (counseling/psychotherapy) services to the community.
What is your primary product or service?
SoCo Counseling offers individual, couples, family and group counseling services for a wide range of human concerns. Those include, but are not limited to: adjusting to life-transitions; relationship difficulties; depression, anxiety, and other mood disturbances; addictive behavior and substance abuse counseling; loss and grieving; healing trauma; improving communication skills; coping with workplace difficulties; social media and/or on-line porn addiction; family problems; eliminating problem behaviors (procrastinating, tardiness, anger outbursts, etc.); improving self-acceptance / learning assertiveness; and many, many more.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested in the field of psychotherapy (now known as counseling) in my early 20's. Having seen counselors off and on from adolescence to young adulthood. Some helped me in very useful ways. In my late 20's, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) helped me understand and improve my relationships with myself, my past, and my wonderful parents. She the helped me improve my relationship with my future through understanding that I have the ability to choose who I become and what becomes of my life. This enabled me to put my higher education to work, overcome fear of graduate school, and understand how I had been limiting (and sometimes sabotaging) myself. This opened up a path for me to give back to others what had been given to me, and, by doing what I love to do, to never work a day in my life.
